Is the rest too blurry to support the extemely sharp flower? I tried removing the competing buds, but prefer it this way. Any comments or suggestions for improvement. I can reshoot. - TF

I think the blur is magnified due to the halo'ing around the plant. I assume it's due to changing to background color. What technique did you use (if any)?

In this case, I think it is too blurry.
I see you are loving that lens but you don't have to shoot 2.8 just because you have it.

Tough call, but I think it is just a bit over the top regarding the difference between the flower and the stem/buds.
