Don - you got really close to your subject in the leaf shot and filled the frame with just the right amount of subject. The leaf itself could sharper - did you use a tripod?

I like the cat one too, even though it's not a classical shot. The lighting's a bit harsh and the cat seems to agree and is squinting. It seems flattened by that light, but in a good way.
