    A gentle smile.

I just recently bought a Tamron 70-200mm F2.8 after reading and watching some reviews online for it. I had my girlfriend pose for me while I snapped a few pictures with it and this one was my best one. I couldn't believe how sharp this image came out. So far I'm VERY happy with the Tamron for the price.

I think it wants more texture in the background.

    Re: A gentle smile.

I wanted a simple background. I was afraid if their were to be any texture in the background, it would pull away from her as the main subject. The background is a walk way in front of the building that I have her leaning up against and their were some cracks and lines in the walk way that pulled away from her and caused these lines that look like they were cutting through her head, so I removed them.

But thank you guys for the comments and advice.

It is, indeed, a gentle smile.
How did you convert to b/w.
I'm not good enough to say what I'd do but the variation of dark light is too much for me.
Don't know if it was your lighting or editing though.

I used a preset in Lightroom as my main base and then started to mess with it and set it how I liked it. The reason their is so much white and then black is because I had her leaning against a building and was over top of her using the sidewalk as a background.

As for lighting, it was sunny out, but I was in, I guess you could say, open shade since the light was bouncing off a nearby white building and was basicly acting as a reflector to bounce the light back into the shadows.

Plus, the drastic change from dark to light is the fact that her hair is black and she was wearing a black hoodie that day. Nothing to do with a preset or to much contrast.

But thank you for the critique.
