Game Used
Taken today at a ballgame. A pine tar rag (hitters use them to apply pine tar to the bats for a better grip), and a used up cup of sports drink. Hence the title----Game Used.

Re: Game Used
No offense but it doesn't really do any thing for me.

Re: Game Used
I like it...something about it makes me feel refreshed, and the focus looks tack sharp too. Good Job

Re: Game Used
Really creative composition and I like the colours, particularly in the background, I think that the yellow shirt in the background and the turquoise liquid makes the shot, similar to payn's recent post.
Thanks for sharing

Re: Game Used
John, i like the concept here and your execution for this was good. I only would have liked to see something on one of the fg subjects to indicate something about the game. For example, maybe the writing on the cup mentioning the ball game of the stadium. Or the paper headline visible with mention of the sport in the section. Just a little something to bring the fg a bg together. Thats just my opinion for a stronger image. I like the overall look and idea behind this scene. Good

Gary, I should have pointed out (and I will when I'm done with this) that the white item isn't a newspaper, it's a pine tar rag for the hitters to use on the bats. With the cup, I had to go with what was there....the shot presented itself and I took it on the spur of the moment. My fault for not identifying the items in question.

John,
I like it, though I wish one item was standing up or more prominent. The colors are great, and the DOF is superb.
Well done,
Jared

Excellent point Jared, and well taken. I liked it the way it was though, as it fit with what I had in mind for the picture. I saw these two items like this, and the title for the picture just came to me. I almost reached over and placed the cup upright, but then it wouldn't have looked 'used'. I'm planning on doing more shots like this during the summer at the minor league games, and I'll be keeping my eye out for identifying logos (as Gary suggested). Maybe that could be my series...Seb does old factories, I'll do a series on things you find at the ballpark.

Re: Game Used
You've captured the feeling of the day being over well. You can tell the one with the yellow shirt has his head down, perhaps he is tired. Looks like we had some similar inspiration recently. :)

Hey payn, that's a good observation. Truth of the matter is I took it around the 4th inning. The guy in yellow was digging in at the plate. As I was processing this, it occurred to me that very same thought....that you'd done a similar shot.
