My first impression is I like it. Breaking the rule because you don't know any better is one thing -- breaking the rule when it works is quite another! It kind of messes with my head because it is hard to distinguish the sky from the water, and a little more sharpness wouldn't have hurt it. My newbie 2 cents.

The top/bottom symmetry doesn't bother me, but I think I would like a little more space on one side to give it a sense of direction. – TF

Irie - Yes, the symmetry is a good thing I think, but it's a bit too dead centered. Sometimes we see a really nice subject but, unfortunately, it may lean towards the plain side. This one is OK .. I think the dull blue of the water is excellent and relaxing. But could add a few more twists next time, such as unbalancing the image in the frame, deliberately using a slower shutter to inject a little artsy effect, zooming while exposing .. A nice bag of tricks is good to bring along. I sometimes try them all and see if there's any hits.

    Re: Boat

    Thanks for your replies.

I agree after your coments that if it had a place to go it would be a bit better, i had to crop it down a bit to this because there where some distracting reflections of trees in the water, i will play with it today and see how it looks with a little more room.

    Thanks,
