    Red door, which view?

Found this interesting little house near the end of a dead end street, which comp works better?

    Re: Red door, which view?

    Hi jetrim,

#1 is my clear favourite. I like the unobstructed frontal view and especially the lighting which is great. Also like the contrast between red/green.

There is one little thing which bothers me however, and that is the red door placed smack in the center of the frame... the "dead zone" in photographic terms. Very easily fixable though, crop to near-square format to eliminate most everything on the left, and still keep a bit of greenery to "frame" the shot.

The mailbox adds to the comp, so it definitely should stay as is on the right side. Nice work!

    Re: Red door, which view?

I too prefer the first image but would suggest taking a little off the left to decentralise the door. Also, if you can get back to this scene, I would suggest a slightly lower perspective - it bothers me a little that the top of the door seems cut off. Even so , the colours are interesting and it is well taken considering the variance in light you had to deal with.

    Cheers

This should be an easy one to replicate as it's only a few blocks from home (discovered it on an evening walk) so I may just try a lower POV and setting up a bit right of my initial position for #1. Thanks for the feedback guys!

I much prefer the first as well. The fence is distracting and actually changes the image quite a bit. I imagine these two photos being from two different neighborhoods.
