Frosty spiders web

Came out this morning and found loads of these webs over the busheys so grabbed my camera put it on to auto macro and tried a few shots not brilliant but what do you suggest i do to gain better ones tried it with the flash to get this shot others were not so good and the berries on there own look too soft no flash in the 1st then built in flash in the 2nd
used the standard 14-45m at 45

Nice photos, but both lack a real subject. Where is the eye supposed to rest on? If there were a spider, for example, then the viewers eye would immediately go to it.

Photo #1: I think this is the better one. The lighting is soft and diffused. I also like the criss-crossing web strands.

Photo #2: Here the built-in flash cast a harsh lighting over the entire frame, and there are some blown-out highlights. The green also appears over-saturated and way to green for my taste.:(

~Next time you use the built-in strobe, try placing a bit of semi-transparent tape over it, this will help in producing softer lighting. There will also be less chance of “red-eye” or “deer-caught-in-the-headlights” look.

Like AMDA I prefer the color and lighting of the first one, it seems more natural, however it looks like the auto-focus went right past the web and locked onto the berries beyond. Perhaps you might try switching to manual focus to get the web to "pop" from the background. If you feel like you must use the flash, try taping a piece of tissue paper (or white plastic trash bag) lightly over it to diffuse the light.
