A couple more from the Berkeley Pier

These are both from the same general area, but obviously different approaches. Does either work? Critiques and comments are welcomed and encouraged

Personally, I love both of them, I really don't see that they could get much better! Great shots

Actually, I like second one much more. But I think the colors are a little over-saturated.

I like the tones and angle of the first but I always have trouble with stuff that leads off frame so I like the second one better.

Irina - I appreciate your feedback as well. I'll have to play a little to see what it looks like if I de-saturate somewhat. Thanks for the suggestion.

Frog - I'm not sure I understand what you see in the first that leads off frame. My concern on the first is that it leads into the center and then you're kind of stuck. Does that make sense?

I love the second one allthough i wish you had taken the shot from the opposite angle (the bridge on your right) and I think in the first one, the bird really makes it great

I'll have to play a little to see what it looks like if I de-saturate somewhat.

Actually I think You should de-saturate only blue color and a little cyan. If you wish I can share with you my version of photo.

The first one doesn't do anything for me at all. Too much out of focus foreground, the sepia isn't needed and the flying bird is just too small to be the main attraction here.

The second one rocks my world-love the colors and composition. Plus you got the bridge just right in the the background.

MB - I'm glad that the shot "rocks your world", but this is California. We tend to have that happen occasionally

The lamp posts on the right. Just something I always have a problem with but also see it would be difficult to get this shot without them that way. Now that I look again, I wish you'd gotten lower so the figures heads weren't lost in the gate at end of pier.

I prefer the color image and even if the saturation has been pushed, and I am not convinced it has (has it?), I like the colors very much. I really like the long angular line leading through the image taking you to the Golden Gate perhaps in the far away. I like it.

Irina - I was actually trying for something along those lines and thought I had it like that here on my desktop. I've opened both side-by-side and can see the differences.

yairh20 - Thanks for your comments as well. I like the bird there as well.

Frog - Thanks for the clarification.

CF - Thanks for the nice comments. I did push the saturation a little, but not a lot. I'm debating whether I like the stronger colors or the more subdued. Maybe I'll have to print smaller versions of both and see which one I like printed.

That is indeed the Golden Gate in the distance.
