very nice shots I like the forth one the most because it shows the emotion on the dancer's face.

the last one is good too, do you have a color version of it?

I actually really love the softness of the last one, and the pose of the girl. It really adds to the mood of the pic, imo.

I like all your pics of the dancers too...and I can't decide if I like the color or b&w's better. I love the colors, the vivid blue, but the b&w just is appealing.

Jessica and Emily, thank you both!
The color version of the girl in the church is awful, because of the "No Flash" rule the picture was incredibly grainy, and the color was really lost.
I converted to a form of sepia and bumped up the blacks, and used a filter to take away some of the grain.

I also like the church picture. You framed it to catch the girl and the statue. It looks moody and appealing
I like the vertical shot of the two dancers best, but would have liked to see a little more elbow room at the left frame
    Good stuff

    Rebekah,

You've done it again, the top photos of the dancers, you managed to catch the symmetry of the dancers really well and the blouse has more detail in it this time. I would clone out the light though.

The expression on the faces of #3 seem as if they are really straining against the physical prowess required for the dance while keeping the symmetry of the dance perfect. I would have left a little more room for the second dancers elbow though. Tough to get it right under the conditions I guess.

The last #4 I would love to see 10x8 as there seems to be a lovely grainyness to the photo but it may make the photo unusable at a larger size because you might loose some of the sharpness. However the composition is spot on and I like the spots of light at the top and on what looks like a shine vase on the step.

    Rebekah,

These are really appealing! I'd say that I prefer the first one, closely followed by the fourth. To me, the b&w always seems to work better in this series. I do not like the colors here although I can't quite explain why. You captured the elegance of these dancers in a special way.

My favourite so far is the second (colour) in this lot. The silk of the dresses is beautiful and the poses are lovely. The gold and blue colours are pristine.
My only suggestion would be to clone out the lamp on the wall.

LOL!! You talk about no flash allowed like it's a bad thing!! The image of the Quincerita praying is IT for me!! Beautiful subtle tones throughout. The grain lends itself very nicely to this image which I would expect to be soft as it is a soft moment. Beautiful timeless looking image, give this to her as a present!

    Re: Folklorico II

Believe me, if I dont need to use flash, I dont
Its just hard in a DARK church setting to deal with the no flash allowed issue.
Even with a combination of films used I couldnt get anything un-grainy.
The funny thing was they were telling me that because of the doorway and a few lights at the alter I should be just fine... weeeelllll the priest and alter weren't even under the lights they were like 5 feet from them! I have a picture of the family members at the alter, and only one is hit by any light.
There is a handful of videographers I've learned that wont even shoot weddings at this church because of the poor lighting conditions. ha!

Becky, you have hit again. These are some stunning images. I like both versions of them. the last one is simply gorgeous. I love the soft, grainy look to it. That really plays up the mood of the image.
