focus stack try 2 - warning flower :)

    Stacked followed by single shot

    Desaturated this one a bit

Both resized to 800 vertical , and sharpened the same amount

Brought the flowers inside, and shot with camera in tripod , I'm no good enough to shot this outside

This photo is very well exposed and Sharp on the flowers; but the composition and subject do not reflect any kind of interest. Maybe a black and white with a vignette will be a better option but still I do not understand what is the message that you want to bring. Do not get me wrong the technique is very good i just the subject that is not very interesting.

Great work! But a rather underwhelming image. I can tell you put work into this and it was solid good work, but the image falls short due to a bland and rather plain, uninteresting subject. So, great job, but try it on something more interesting ;)...

And thank you for the warning

Regarding the focus stacking technique, you did very good - I can't see the "seams" which can occur when the slices are too far apart.

If you had to bring it in, why did you put it in front of that strange background?

    Thanks for the comments

I guess I was to stubborn to try to get the flowers shot and got lost in the technique
without paying attention to the whole photo

Armando, what's a stack shoot? Besides the slight saturation change, I don't see any differences between the two images.

The first (desaturated shot, stacked) is clearly sharper throughout, so well done with the technique. It looks flawless.

I agree about the subject itself and the bg, but I take it your really just experimenting with the technique of focus stacking, and so with that it is quite good.

no difference in the depth of field ? :cryin:

    A focus stacked shot, means:
taking a series of shots at the same exposure with different focus points trying so once the shots are combined in a single image the whole subject will be in sharp focus

Focus is usually done manually , from the closest point to wherever it is you want to take the dof

This image is composed of 3 shots, all f11 1/2 sec iso 200 flash bounced to the left @ 1/2 power
    1. focus at the nearest point of the main flower
    2. focus on the main flower
    3. focus behind to the right of the main flower

Why go through all this trouble ?
    1. past f11 my macro lens starts to be less sharp
    2. dof at 1:1 macro is usually not enough even when using very small apertures
    3. seen some incredible macros using this technique
