Re: Fly Me to The Moon
Hi Trog,
I imagine the three structures are rockets, so they can fly me to the moon. Does that make sense?

Re: Fly Me to The Moon
rockets eh?
I like the use of "negative space" here. The simple pattern of the buildings, I mean rockets... and the simplicity of the shot in general is great. people on the right side of the shot also add a lot, adds an element of complexity while keeping some simplicty, if that can possibly make sense.
I also dig the contrast between the bright colors and the darkness.

Re: Fly Me to The Moon
Great imagination Yoyo and a very effective simple and unusual image. Simple and unusual is very welcome..
I think you showed us more close up shots of these structures in the past.

Re: Fly Me to The Moon
This didn't work for me at all at first but after spending a bit more time it is growing on me, your explanation works but perhaps a title like 'the rockets' or something more direct would help, keep on getting the feeling that this would make a good greetings card (!) Very creative Yoyo.
Thanks for sharing

Re: Fly Me to The Moon
...of course, keeping the title and having a moon in the image might be one option....

Re: Fly Me to The Moon
Well, I can tell you from experience, they do not look like rockets to me... more like elevators to the moon. But I do like the shot, especially the colors contrasted against the black sky. Perhaps it would be more interesting if the moon was visible in that abyss.

Re: Fly Me to The Moon
Hi Mr Yuck, Thanks for the detailed analysis and kind words.
Hi Tom, You are always too lenient with me. Yes, I had posted close-up shots of the structures before. You have a very good memory. I dont know why; I am just obsessed about the place. The structures are the signature of the architect. He likes to include them in his works.
Hi Trog, Are you the Trog with a super tele-combo lens? Like to take photos in churches? Of course you are! How can I forget your hehe! Thanks a lot for the kind words. By the way, thanks again for suggesting me to buy Cokin graduated filters in 2003.
Hi Herriot, Thanks for the kind words. I am glad that you mentioned the moon because it came to my mind ten seconds after I had posted this shot!
Hi Rocket Scientist, I should not have mentioned "rockets" in the first place lol. Yes, I agree a moon in the shot would fit the title better. I was just a bit carried way by the song.

Re: Fly Me to The Moon
Yoyo...I've come back to this a couple times, and I really like the picture. I can picture it in a tall frame. The vast amount of sky works with this, especially since it's all just dark sky. I love the structures' colors against that, and I also like the circles of light on the ground. Neat shot. :)

Re: Fly Me to The Moon
yoyo, I too remember these structures in some past shots of yours and it's easy to understand why you would be so intrigued with them. They are works of art in themselves , especially stark out against the black night sky.
I like the use of negative space, and while there may be a little bit too much of it in this shot the overall effect seems to work well. My one small issue with this scene is I keep wanting to see a space between the yellow and orange as there is between the yellow and blue. I'm not sure if moving over some could have done this.
I've come to understand that your titles can be most abstract, but it is a sign of a good imagination evident in your great photography

Re: Fly Me to The Moon
Hi Emily, Thanks for sharing your perspective. I am very glas that the shot works for you.
Hi Gary, Thanks for the kind words. Your suggestion about the spacing is very good. I will definitely remember it when I visit the place again.

Re: Fly Me to The Moon
Yoyo.. pioneered the "titled" image concept if i remember correctly..
a yoyo image without the title would just leave most folks wondering what it was they are looking at.. once they know they see all the things that yoyo wants em to see.. he he
i am still telling folks here to buy those cokin grads yoyo by the way.. some things dont change much.. :)
nice to see u again..
