I like the middle one the best. The different shades of the sky work well against the pearl color of the building. I really like the angle that that shot looking up.

    Preference

My preference is the order in which you posted them - I like the first shot the best, the 2nd shot is also very nice, and the 3rd shot I care for the least.

Love the blue sky and simplicity of essentially only the 2 colors in these shots. Nice compositions, you're showing off the lines and curves nicely.

I think I like them in that order too. The second one holds promise but the crop at the bottom bothers me. The first one is more compositionally complete.

what are those things? I prefer # 1, then #2 and # 3 are tied. I love the clean look of the blue and offwhite. The design is great in the first one. The other two are nice but don't have the impact the first does. Nice angles in all. Well I just popped on here to let you guys know I wont be on for a while depending on Frances the Hurricane. Looks like shes coming right here, so I gotta get ready. See you soon. I'll catch up on everyones posts when I get through this.. if..

I''ve been to the museum twice and photographed it once. I felt like there were some pictures there waiting for me, but nothing really came out like I might have hoped. A fish-eye might have helped. I've seen some nice wide-angle shots from inside the atrium and seen some nice work done with the long vertical fountain out front.

I like #2 best of yours, thought it's hard to articulate why. Good balance perhaps?

    Lava, are you nearby?

It's true, the museum begs for the camera but doesn't deliver. It's such an experience to just be around it, but you can't capture that experience in the small square of the viewfinder.

You're right. I don't have the gear to do it justice. Sometimes you just have to take the bits that are offered. These are some bits that I've posted before.

last summer I drove out to milwaukee and I took a picture of that building as we drove past, I had no idea what it was, I just took the picture because the WienerMobile was out front.

Very nice photographs. I love the visual perspective in all of the images and your exposures are right on. I'm with Spike on these 1 thru 3 in that order. Very nice eye Chunk.

A dificult subject to photo and get it right.........so vast with almost too many angles etc.....I've tried similar shots of the Austrlian Museum without much success I feel.

I like the interior shots the best as the frame is full of the structure.....not sure if I have a preference......the tunnel with the 'red' exterior if I had to choose.....very dramatic and nice perspective... I feel the people add to these shots as they give the structure scale and somehow give the images life and purpose.
    Focus on the positive!

I like the first two a lot. Forgot to tell you that the title of your post was clever.

Very difficult shots to get right, where just a foot to either side may have a large impact on the photo. I like what you did, the only one that doesn't measure up to the others is probably the fountain. But I think you did a fine job here. You could convert to B&W but the may be over done and not really necessary. A large print may be what some of the images are asking for.

    Hey Chunk,
I also like the 1st the best in the first series you posted. but it seems there are no real dark or close to black shadows there. The shadows seem to remain at a constant level and do not offer much difference in shades. Could be the colorspace I happen to be viewing on.
The second series is really good. I like the first two the best with the middle one perhaps my favorite. Excellent composition there with the people almost silhoutted against the bg.

These are really good representations of the architecture!, they way they portray a feeling of strength and ingenuity are amazing.

The second one in the second sat is also beautiful.

Thanks again for all the great replies.
Gary - I did some levels adj on the first set but not to where I got real blacks as that kinda lost the feeling of light bouncing all over that I felt on location.
Kit - these cables support the roof of the museum which incorporates the huge movable 'wings' or 'sails' which you see in the second shot. If you go to the link in the original post the have a gallery of photos of the building there.
Irish - Let's see a couple of those shots you are talking about. I took a look at the Austrailian Museum website (http://www.austmus.gov.au/ ). Is that the one? I couldn't find any info about the building.
