    I like the first one better. Can't tell you exactly why but I do. LOL

    I also like the first one better. The DOF really eliminates any distractions. The second one has little green prickly looking plants in the background that are pretty in focus; I think the background is a little too distracting.

    Great pics though!

    I prefer the second one. The background is cleaner due to a more even coverage of green, the first one had those dark splotches of dirt showing through. The second one also has the strong lines of the stalks reaching up through the frame, leading the eye to the "flowers."

    I like the first one better too.
    There's a whole lot of nothingness going on in the bottom of the second image.

    The second is better, however needs to be re-cropped. My preference is to keep the camera aspect ratio (or close to it) or go square format so the photo doesn't scream "cropped".

    If you keep the aspect ratio and crop more off the bottom of the second photo and recompose the seed pods it might be better.
