    First attempt at portrait
Here is my first attempt at making a portrait of the kids, I have a couple of lights and a cloth back drop.
How does the color look? Any tips for taking these type of pics?

    Fuji S3
    24-120 Nikon
    1\60 @ f6.7
    Flash mounted on a strobo-frame.
    Thanks!!

Great looking kids you have there. I liked the composition with the boys sitting quietly and the young lady off to the side showing off. Probably in starke contrast to reality. ;) It gave the portrait a sense of motion.

The first thing to grab me were the shadows on the bottom corners and the kids shadows on the backdrop. Very distracting. You may need to get more light to reduce them.

The lighting is very uneven and kind of unflattering Chris.
From what it sounds like you were using just one light?
Usually for a group like this you'd need either somthing with more power or multiple lights.
I'd recommend you post this one in the Lighting/Studio Forum.
Cute pic by the way, they look like good kids.

    Thanks Dan\Brian.

    Points understood and appreciated.

The kids are great and yes, the boys are much harder to capture than my little princess.
It took ~ 24 shots to get this.
