British Museum - a compositional exercise

Hi all .. this is an image I took yesterday at the British Museum (which is always a good place to go photo hunting!) It's in the Assyrian section and I was attempting to capture more subtle compositional elements.

Let me know what you think.

    Cheers

I like it Mike. The composition is spot on, exposure and even everyones posture. Nice work. One small nit pick would be to clone the thing on the wall under the ladies chin. I enjoy your work.

Thanks Greg .. I didn't notice that thing! I think it is a label of some kind and I will certainly clone it out as you suggest.

The door in the back pulls my eye in and then I come out to the rest. I think this is a very good composition. It is as though there are several photos but all tied together into one, if that makes sense. Each figure has its own story or something to make me curious about.
    Good stuff!

This is a fine and balanced composition, Mike. There is the large chunk of wall exhibit on the immediate right with a man walking out of the frame. This would have it weighted heavily on the right side, but then you have the two persons in the middle and left looking out into the left of the frame which seems to balance it well. Also, the vertical exhibit piece near the left cutting up into the upper area of wall above the moulding adds a nice balance overall as well. The one thing that I can feel off here is there seems to be a very slight lean to the right. I can see the horizontal lines are coming down ever so slightly as you go from left to right and a slight twist counter clockwise would fix this.
    Very good as usual.

I think you captured the essence of art galleries. They're big, square, cold, unemotional, simple, ... they all seem the same to me (and that's coming from an art and photography nut). That being said, I like the harmonic colors and it is interesting the way the floor is the same color as the tablets! (I wonder if they intended that). The people are neat too.

Mike, I'm really enjoying the arrangement of the people in the photo. Back, middle, foreground. I don't know if that was planned or not, but it really enhances the whole composition for me.
