Hey Now Everyone in Critiqueland!
I'm getting ready for a show on April 9 and would love to get feedback on this one and how it works, or not, for you. Honesty is awesome so please don't spare any.

I like it very much. Very nice abstract. I could study this for hours and still something new every few minutes. Engaging.

I like that your keeping up on these abstract symetrical sorta pattern merges. There is a great balance in this comp and i too can continue to find interesting shapes and images from within this.
i think its great, and the textures are also intriguing.

Not too sure what to make of this one to be honest. Yes, I can scan the image and arrive at various conclusions like seeing the face or even faces within faces. To an extent to says "Africa" or "Voodoo".
I'm not too sure that I enjoy looking at it and I don't know for what reason.
(I have a photograph at home on my wall that often upsets me yet I cannot stop looking at it; it just calls me back to look again at what makes me sad.
In the past you have constructed somewhat similar works which I enjoy a lot more than this. Cindy; you are doing your own thing and this is yours. Stay with it because you do it well.
Perhaps this really needs to be seen with your other similar work; on its own it does not work for me.

I don't know what it means either, but it kind of looks both industrial and organic. I see a repeating face. A darker one with the < > symbols in the eyes, then a ligher one with the • in the middle between the eyes, then a darker one, etc. Very abstarct.

Excellent. input, thank you friends. That's why I asked here - I need straight answers and most people either don't get it at all or just say Wow or Cool:thumbsup: or WTF?:idea: which is certainly a nice sum up but less than what I'm looking for in analysis. Please feel free to jump in with any more thoughts.

I'm beginning to wonder if my dyslexia has anything to do with it. To me these pictures make the most sense of anything I've ever done. I know they're weird, too symmetrical, etc. but for me it's about amplifing color, texture, and light. If I see something familiar in it I'll give it a name (i.e. in this one I see a grizzled older monkey with very deep brown somber eyes), but they're really supposed to be Rorshachian-style abstracts, and the list of suggested names should be endless. I've often found that changing their orientation completely changes the way I feel about the image. We custom framed them so they can rotate freely while hung on the wall and alter the orientation of the frame to any angle. I know my kids have been in my office when everythings cockered at a 45 degree angle. But I really can't blame them, they're fun to spin!

I've had a couple of shows here in Asheville and the reactions I get are warm but fuzzy - people either get it right away or just get a bit over whelmed. The owner of a local pizza place bought one and said "Cool! What is it?" He says he's gonna hang it up on the wall until he figures it out, so that should be a good long while at least.

I pretty much know how you feel. So many people want a beginning, middle and end, that its hard to get across the essence of things that fall into the realm of abstract. But, if you've seen some of my shots (not comparing them to yours, btw), you would figure I would agree with your work.

I find the image excessively busy and loud. The real problem of that though, is that the detail is so small at the resolution that you posted, its hard to really look at it, all of those details are hiding in 365x470 pixels. Could you post a larger copy for us to really look at that detail? You have a ton of detail on that image and you are making everybody squint to make anything out at that resolution.

Oops! You're right! I forgot to link from the larger gallery image. Thanks for the reminder :blush2: it's been a minute since I posted in the forum. here's a larger version. Typically I've been printing these at 16x20 and like the details to be crisp.
