    Eucalyptus On Fire
Colors of the setting sun cast a eerie glow on a grove of eucalyptus last evening.

The trunk color is nice. Any reason why you cut off the bottom of the trees? It feels incomplete to me, it leaves me wanting to see the rest of those trunks.

I also like the lighting on the trunks along with the moon, but I have the same question as Ed regarding the bases of the trees. I would either argue for a tighter crop with tree and moon or more space to show the environment. As-is it feels a little flat.

    NKP/Prevailing Conditions:

Thanks both for your comments. In answer to your question I guess it was just personal choice in framing the shot. I wanted the moon in the gap of the branches to have a significant role in the overall shot. When framing the shot, I looked at the entire tree and the effect of the moon was lost. Also, as this grove of trees is a border along a parking lot, to capture the full tree, the full trunk, would have included a rather unphotogenic curb and parking spaces. I worked with what I had, but I understand your thoughts. Thanks again for the comments/idea.

Great capture. Light like that doesn't stick around for long.

    Love the colors.

I think my eye tends to be lead out of the picture when it gets to the bottom. Maybe removing the tuft of trees that are in the lower right corner, the bottom middle, and the lower left corner. This should make your eye stay on the trunks which lead you back up to the moon.

That is some great light. Well done. Experiment with cropping is all I can say. Sometimes when you decide to focus on a particular element of a large scene, it helps to be as definitive as possible. Go for it...crop even more. The way it is now it seems hesitant. As if you weren't sure how to frame it. The overall balance is good though, so maybe it's best.
