Eating Out.......
The one thing here I need help on is the window flare, upper left. Should I clone it or leave it.In some ways I like it that it looks as though I shot through a window, but part of me says clone it. Any thoughts?

Re: Eating Out.......
Hard to say but I guess I'd clone it or crop it even. I don't think you;d lose much cropping to the post and then from bottom to keep the format ratio.
Its one of those shots of yours that I like so much as is.

Re: Eating Out.......

Re: Eating Out.......
I'd be 50/50 on it too. Just keep them both. :-)

Re: Eating Out.......
I'm with you guys. I can't decide which is better; they're both great. At first, I was thinking crop out the curb, but now I don't know what I was thinking. :D I wonder how this would work in b&w.
Greg, may I ask how you metered this, what ISO you used, and how/where you focused?

Re: Eating Out.......
Greg, you're good at cloning, I'd say do it.

I shot this at 400 iso, f4.5, 1/40, 150mm. I used image stabilization. I shoot manual and just used the cameras meter. ESP metering and AF.
Thank again all. Thanks Paul. I practice a lot.

Re: Eating Out.......
I like it with the flare removed but like Frog said “just keep them both”.

Re: Eating Out.......
Removed is great!
I think any cropping would ruin this photo, I really like this one

Re: Eating Out.......
Greg - I like this.. it looks professional, well arranged, geometric in a good way. The colors work and the people inside are interesting, though the insides could be a bit sharper. I would definitely crop out that bottom board/curb thing. Otherwise, perfect.

Re: Eating Out.......
I like the second one best. Also I think the curb gives some definition to the flower bed and keeps it from just going to nothing at the bottom of the frame, Jeff

Re: Eating Out.......
Keep both,....dunno about cropping the curb...without throws more emphasis on the window, but also like it with,as a frame.

Re: Eating Out.......
I thought that maybe the curb should be cropped for about a millisecond. After which, I came to my senses and realized that that would be an awful idea. (What can I say, I was out of coffee this morning.)

Re: Eating Out.......
Thanks everyone again for your help. I am beginning to like the cloned version and it's cleaner look, as for the curb it was one of my favorite parts. I thought it helped frame the shot. Again your help is very valuable, Thanks a million.

Late to the party on this one, but FWIW I think you made the right choice :)

Re: Eating Out.......
I guess I might as well throw in my two pennies worth :)
Penny 1: Go with the flare removed, it was a little distracting though I can see why you were having a hard time deciding
Penny 2: I prefer it without the curb, the curb draws my attention downwards, away from the window, which is such a great scenery, oozing of that All-American diner atmosphere :) But hey, majority rules :D
But this is such a cool shot

i can't believe no one mentioned the cook's head that is missing in the second version (under the right side hanging light. ( i like it better with him gone btw.)
great shot either way.

Re: Eating Out.......
Thanks Pink Dragon Fly, Thanks Chappy. I will consider removing the curb. But like you say I can have it both ways.
