It took me a while to find the subject at the end of the diagonal of that escalator.
There's just so much else to see in the image.
The diagonal elements are so strong, the dark top right, is that an escalator too?
The diagonal of the edge of the water.
The double diagonal of the escalator in the middle distance, the dark diagonal om the left...
Then you've got the vertical of the other buildings, mostly in the highlights and background.
    Very nicely done.

Love the angles, shapes, textures and tones of this. It has great depth, as if you could walk right into the scene. good stuff

Look at the light bouncing through this scene! This pattern rich shot is going to have me coming back for more views. The range of tones is terrific but I wonder if the brightest area near the top center should be burned in a bit.
Beautiful work. The composition leads us all over the shot but never out of it.

Hi PAul, Thanks for the detailed observation. All the metallic materials in the shots are the structure of the building. The elevators are in the entrance of the building which is not shown in the shot.

Hi payn, I am happy that the shot works for you. By the way, I had been waiting for quite a while for the people to walk into the scene.

Hi Chunk, I am glad that you mentioned the light reflection. Yes, you are right about the highlight in the middle.

I like this one, too. Even if there wasn't people in the scene, it would still be a good shot, but the people make it complete. Very cool.

Nice to see something from you. It has been a while, I think. Clever composition with a nice touch of whimsy. Your perspective is voyeuristic, as if you were hidden in the shadows and peering out. Feels a touch sinister as I think about it.

    Hi LL,
Thanks for sharing your perspective. The shot was taken with a 35 mm lens and I was about 15 feet from the subject. I guess that they had noticed me taking photos. Your proposed "Peeping Tom" feeling is simulating.

Yoyo, I agree with much of what has been said here already. Your point of view and framing of this was very good. The exposure looks great as well. For me, the people in this scene do not really add to the overall strength of the image, but they do not take anything away from it either. Perhaps because they do not stand out very well and have their backs to us.However, the tones, exposure, lighting, and all the angles, lines and diagonals make this a strong image nonetheless.

I dislike these types of buildings so much but they can be the photographers friend. I agree with Garys critique, especially concerning the people. I'd imagine it's unusual to see this place so empty of people. But it is a shot that works well for me.
For the life of me I just cannot work out what those spikey little things coming up from the ground are.

I think my eyes are lazy. They keep refusing to look at the people. When they do happen upon them, they get annoyed. I guess because I love photographing people so much, that the rather emotionless representation of them here throws me off. I'm not saying this is a bad image in any way, in fact i think your tonal range and the many sizes and angles you've got in there are awesome. It would just be nice not to have people in there, or if you had to, for them to have more of a role. As it is right now, they are the only thing taking away from this image for me.

    Hi Yoyo,

I really enjoy your image. I think it's good that the people are in there too, because it gives a good sense of scale. Very nice angle that shows geometrically the modern architectural beauty of the building -- with varying textures throught. I also like the tonal range.

    A strong image,

    Yoyo,

I didn't read through all the critiques so I apologize if this is repetitive. Great geometrics and wondeful tones. Adding the human element is so important in a shot like this and I believe you captured it perfectly. The one point of concern for me is the exposed area on the left hand side. It takes away my focus from the children, so maybe if it's burnt a tad that would help. Other than that, bravo as always!

Re: Mom, I am as fast as you. Haha!

Hi Gary, Thanks for the comment as always. I guess if the 2 guys were facing the camera, the feeling would be different.

Hi Liz, Thanks for your view especially about the 2 guys. My original intention was to use them to supplement the architectural details. I remember your suggestion next time.

Hi Tim, Thanks a lot for the detailed analysis. I am glad the shot works for you.

Hi Jared, Yes, the bight spots are a bit distracting. Thanks ffor telling me what you think.
