    A Place to Rest

This was in an open field with nothing else around it. What do you think?

What a great subject and a photo Greg. Love the framing and the angle of the sofa. A couple of things bother me. It seems to lack some contrasts and it seems a bit too grey. The other thing is the tall trees behind the sofa grasp my attention too strongly. I think it would've improved had you maybe twisted around and avoided those trees.

I think that since its in an empty field with nothing else around that the 'feel' might be enhanced if you pulled back farther, showing more emptiness around it.
    Fine image though.

    Re: A Place to Rest

did someone just truck this thing out htere and dump it ? seems like a lot of effort.

or do you think that it might just be a rest stop for tired scarecrows on the way home to have a brew ?

agree with the other posters ~ a different angle wouldn't have made the trees appear to grow out of the sofa. but who knows maybe they did !!

then again what do i know. that's why i come here isn't it ??

I'd like to see a more dramatic sky, maybe some dark scary clouds, maybe a 20 minute exposure with some star trails...maybe a sunrise/set.

I want to see this sofa, I hope you revisit, it's just begging to be viewed differently, through different lenses, angles, and times of day.

I actually like the composition, I just want more to happen in the sky.

A great find Greg. I like the framing but somehow I feel it may have lost some character in the conversion to mono. I'm thinking the colour might work so well with the detail in the fabric and springs.

Leels, I didn't even notice the trees. Tom here is the color version. Yes Mr. Yuck a dramatic sky would help.

Greg, great find. The color is much stronger than the b&w. I agree with the trees in the bg being too diminant and coming up out of the sofa. I also agree with standing back some more to give more view of it's surroundings and setting. Perhaps you could shoot from slightly higher up to place the top of the couch in front of the light color grass behind it rather than the dark trees in the distance.

take a ladder or better still dig a trench and get a low down shot.

seriously though, it could provide lots of different angles and perspectives as it is such an unusual sett(ee)ing..

    ouch!!

The ladder is a good idea. I have actually thought of taking one with me on shoots.
