    Arlington National Cemetery photos

Went to Arlington National Cemetery over the weekend. I know that a lot of people shoot it, but I wanted to try to bring my own style to it. Anyway, let me know what you think.

This is one of a few photos that I took. Obviously for critiquing purposes I only posted this, but I encourage you to check out the rest of them at my flickr.

    Re: Arlington National Cemetery photos

I'm a big fan of photographing cemeteries. And I love this picture. The only thing that bothers me is the front stone on the right sort of pulls my eye away, but I didn' notice it at first glance.

I, too, am a fan of cemetery shots and agree about the right front stone.
Wouldn't be real but you might want to clone it out.
I'd like a bit more space on top also.
All in all I do like the composition.
    Keep Shooting!

I considered cloning it out, but out of respect, I chose not to. Thanks for the comments!

    Here is another shot.

    Re: Arlington National Cemetery photos

I really liked the first shot and understand your desire to leave the right side stone in. I do agree about having a little breathing room at the top. The second shot is also good, but for my taste I think I would have preferred a vantage point one full step to the right and maybe 10" closer to the ground to strengthen the leading line created by the left row. Very nice moody exposure though.

I think you composed it just right. I like the black and white. What lens did you use?

    Re: Arlington National Cemetery photos

First, I agree with your reason for not cloning it out.

For my (limited) photographic eye, I would have liked to have the whole stone on the right visible. I like it off by itself with the somewhat darker illumination and the engraving. Sort of like the one known among the many unknown that died.
