    Re: dreamers

It's a nice composition of a tender moment.
I'd suggest cropping out the arm and take a bit off the bottom as well.
Concerning focus: It looks like you fell a little short as main focus appears to be on the arm in the foreground. The faces look a little soft(blurred).
    Your contrast is good.
    I like this shot.

I was leanning over the end of the sofa and was not very steady, which is why my focus is off. Cropped out some of the arm, and I think it's a little better, but alas they will be forever soft
    Thank you for your comments.

Here's your crop sharpened up a bit. Bit more contrast too.

I like the sharpened version, but I think I like the the softer one too, now that I see them both. I had coverted it to B&W and used unsharp mask but not very much.

This had the potential to a really nice pic. If you would have moved a little more to your right it would have kept the man's shoulder from being such a large light toned area and then your attention would be focused on the faces.
    Nice work.

    in reply to carbon terry

i agree about the main area of viewing being attracted by the arm but i think the editing JK_Photo has done is very good, made the picture by far better but i feel a little editing is still to be done
(in a cocked up way im trying to agree with you )

the work that i feel would take this photograph from good to very good would be the darkening of the arm with whichever tool you feel comfortable with in photoshop, i would use the darken setting of the clone tool, this would create a diagonal line down his arm with the arm dark enough to frame the faces

    good work

    Re: dreamers

Nice tender moment. My wife has taken a few of these of me and my son. They are adorable.

I disagree with the sharpening. Since this is a tender moment, for me I like the softer version. I do agree 100% about the shoulder dominating the photo. I too would tone that down a bit. The only thing distracting to me is the other arm just peaking in on the top right. I think it would be better without the arm. Unfortunately, there isn't room to crop. Nice moment. Good image.

Thank you for all the comments and suggestions. They were very helpful. I tried one last time to see if could tone down the arm a bit.
    Thanks again

    Re: dreamers

Not much I can say by now, but toning the arm down was a plus. I am drawn more to the faces now. Great job capturing the moment, CJ. Isn’t it great to have the camera ready to go at all times?
