    Red Baloon

Took this shot while I was shooting several bands playing during some festivities in Brussels last Sunday.

I'm interested to know which people prefer (if any) and what might have made the shot better, i.e frontal view?

    Red balloon alone or not?

    Cheers, S

Great action captured.I prefer the softer contrast of the 2nd image shootme.I really like the shadow play,It looks as if he's trying to stomp the shadow...In the 2nd...The red shirt works for me.

    Re: Red Baloon

I personally find city shots such as people walking around on a Saturday to be 'paradoxical.' In some ways, they're futuristic, interesting, etc. Not being a city person however, I find most of them quite cold. I think this is a perception thing, so others may feel quite opposite.

Applying that disclaimer , it has action and you caught him in a good stance, but the photo also a lot of hard concrete and hence lack of interesting surroundings, and is also limited by not being able to really see the kid's face or expression. In that respect, it slightly leans towards the unemotional.

I do like the spot color btw, but at the same time, it seems a bit of a 'one-trick pony.'

    Like I mentioned, perception.....

I think I prefer the second but both are good.

So reminiscent of the film which won so many awards.

Thank you Frog --- your first thoughts were exactly as mine!

The second shot works. And, I think the young boy with his balloon brings a sense of innocence to the concrete jungle.

Thank you for sharing this with us shootme.
