    Re: Dozing the Night Away

Hey - Love the colors here Greg. Orange and purple always work well together.

It's a neat shot, but with a few limitations. It is slightly too geometric to me (like the Bulldozer is boxed in), and the actually subject is.. err, well, a bulldozer .

So, it is a nicely lit shot and is fun, but considering the subject, it almost seems like a warm up for the real shoot. But what's the real shoot?

Btw - would look really neat if you could eliminate the lighting except for a break sec, then leave the exposure open all night and get the stars swirling. Just watch the moon.....

My only issue is that I see a lot of noise... Do you remember your ISO? I like it though, really nice colors, and great composition!!

I like this one Greg, but I may be a bit biased having done a few night heavy equipment shots earlier in the fall myself. The tungsten street light works well as a key light, and you caught it at an interesting angle. Nice contrast and very crisp.

Is that tungsten or headlights shining from the left rear?

    Re: Dozing the Night Away

Thanks all. I would love to shoot other angles on this one GB but there were heavy lights left and right and I just did squeeze this one in between them. Frog it is light from a parking lot that is shining on the dozer.

I really like the composition, colors and lighting, what makes it for me being its an unusual
combination of dozer and sky,a bit weird in a good way.

    Hi Grey,
The shot has a very serene feeling. Thanks for sharing.

Very good shot, Greg. I don't know the purpose of the shot, except to practice, but it is good. Comp is good and the background makes the foreground.

    Re: Dozing the Night Away

Thanks again all, Ron I have been trying to get more stars in my night shots and yes this was good practice. There were plenty out and for a city shot I thought this one came out pretty good. The haloing around the dozer is from a baseball stadium, Rome Braves, across the highway.

    Really cool photo.

I agree with GB1 that a longer exposure with star trails would be really neat. But I like this one the way it is.

    What was the shutter speed?

    Re: Dozing the Night Away

Hi Greg!...cool shot. I think I might try bumping the contrast on the dozer separately. Has almost an HDR feel to it.
Please ask to edit photos and I'll do the same!
    Thx, Rod

    Re: Dozing the Night Away

Thanks Rod I may try a layer. When I boost the contrast I lose the stars, but a layer would work. Thanks I will try it.

Wowzer. That looks great. Maybe darken up a little bit with burn tool in photoshop? Thoughts?
