    Something a little different

Well, i wanted to give you guys a taste of something a tad different. Im pretty darn sure this is the first skating pictures shown on this board ever, and as long as im around here, There probably will be more, but until then, here they are, my first shots EVER using a digital camera, it was odd, switching from a film SLR to a digital simple point and shoot.

Well, it was just a little messing around, and i felt like showing it. Thanks for looking.

Dan, I've been looking forward to your first photos. I think you show a lot of promise. There are many photogs on here you should pay a lot of attention to who are into your type of photography. They, I'm sure, will all be stopping by to check out your works.
Going from a film to p/s will take a little adjusting. But I think you are up to the challenge.
    Keep up the good work!!

    Re: Something a little different

How wonderfully presumptious! We have had skate and other "extreme" sports posts before, you just gotta do some searching. I have often thought about doing some myself, but would rather spend my time on the board . There's so many photos in this thread, it is difficult to give you proper critique.

However, you may want to try a tighter crop, and a smaller fstop. That would get rid of the distracting background, and blur what remains, so your subjects would really stand out.

Even though I don't really care for them, a skate park may be a good place for a shoot, but it looks like you're into street, so perhaps not.

Welcome to critique, hope to see more from you.

Dan, you should check out the sports forum. There are quite a few sports photographers on this forum who would love to see your images.

As for your images, the timing looks very good. But it looks like you could use a little work on your composition. You might want to experiment with some tighter crops, especially on the third image.

The last two are the best of the lot, in my opinion.

Nah, been skating pics here since you was knee-high to a grasshopper. Welcome ot the board, though. You should check out what Photo John does. He runs this site and photographs professional mountian biking as well -- his angles and flash set-up could give you some great ideas that would apply to skating.
