Monterey, CA in the early morning

Here are three shots I got this morning while shooting at the beach in Monterey, CA. This was my first time getting photos in at sunrise. I do have a couple more images that I uploaded to my gallery. Critiques welcome! Thanks!

Beautiful shots. I love them all. The first two are wonderful, and the final two add some interesting macro type shots. Great colors and well done.

Fabulous shots!! I can't say I'm super thrilled about the frames because these shots don't need the extras. They are incredible on their own!!

    I agree. Amazing shots!

The borders are taking too much away from these otherwise exceptional photos. Try a black border or white or nothing at all, depending on what works best for you. The only critique that comes to mind is the 1st shot is very tilted, and also easily fixed. Other than that they look very nice Jorge.

Thanks everyone! I swear, level horizons are gonna be the death of me. I'm gonna try to put a black frame on the shots to see how they come out tonite, but I've got TONS of other shots to go through from this trip as well as other stuff I've been shooting. Except for the frames, both macro shots are straight out of the camera, converted from raw -> Jpg using NC, and then sized & saved in PS. I'm planning on taking another trip out there in the next 2 weeks or so so hopefully I'll get a bunch more.

Hi jorgemonkey, personally i like the last two pics ... beautifully done !
Keep a look out for the horizon in future as in pic 1 shows the horizon is tilted ... Personally i think the 1st two pic can be further improve with more dramatic lighting , love the 'smokey' effect from the wave tho ... keep shooting !!

The picture of the kelp has became one of my favs from this shoot. If you look close, you can see my reflection in there. I didn't notice it until after I got home and saw the shot on a big monitor instead of the in-camera monitor. It looks like I'll be heading out there on monday for round two- this time I have a different spot picked out to try.

The colors and textures really jump out at you. I don't mind the borders so much,as it's easy to fall in love with a particular action or style. I have to fight that myself. Great work Jorge
