I like these although I feel that the first and third one would have been better if shot with a telephoto so you could really blur the hints of background arround the cars.
I really like the second one for the deep car color and the multiple reflections on the paint.

    Hey, Seb:

Thanks for the idea of using the telephoto lens. I will give that a try. I appreciate the comments.

    Re: Do You Like Cars?

Good colors and exposure in all three. The 'flame rod' reflected in the Dodge works very well!

Bacckground at car shows are real pain. Often it is easier to do something with it in post as opposed to trying to find the perfect DOF at the event. The biggest problem with using too long a lens is, that unless its is a private event, people will walk in and out of the shot! Also with a real long lens the dimensionality of the car will be affected adversely.

One other technique is to shoot from fairly low at an angle so that the reflections can be controlled and are of the sky. I do like to use other cars reflecting as well as another subject or so (I've got a post coming soon) to highlight the finish.

    Yeah, I like cars.

Thanks very much for the comments. I tried my best when taking these shots to minimize background, but as you stated, it is very hard to completely eliminate people from walking into a shot. This car show is the largest weekly display of classics in the western US, so people are everywhere and not always appreciative of the few extra seconds it takes to get a shot.

I also try to use other cars in the reflection, it adds to the whole auto scene. Like flowers, cars are such a popular subject that it takes a real special car and a special shot to get something unique. I don't know that any of these shots are especially unique but they came out fair enough to share.

    Thanks again.
