Distraction?

Do you find the placard in the bottom distracting or irrelevant to the big picture?

Nope, but the rotunda looks crooked.

I would straighten the image and remove the placard. Then it will be a great shot..

and if straightening means loosing something I'll leave it as is

I agree with everything said. Great image, although a little tilted. As for the sign, I could see where you might question it, but I think it adds to the image, maybe if there was a little more room under it?

No, it's part of the story. The tilt is a much bigger issue, because you can't straighten it without losing some of the stand.

Excellent shot, though.

Yesterday I was supposed to shoot this concert, but it was cancelled, so I went to re-shoot this. Had to move the placard out of the frame.

I am still thinking about re-shooting this, but later in the night, to get a deserted frame, and with a tripod, to use a tiny aperture and get mad detail everywhere.

I like the placard in that it gives me an idea of the use of the building.

Alexandre - First off, congrats on the sticky. The picture's thumbnail really catches one's eye.

I like the picture, but think that the placard is a distraction. As others have noted, it is also tilted which to me is a little more distracting still.

I really like the two other shots of this. Torn on whether it looks better brighter though, as in the original.
I think the brightness makes the person stand out better though, and I also think that him walking towards the building is somehow more powerful than the person walking away from it.

Very powerful contrast here. Really shows what B&W can do!

I've been meaning to post on this photo since I saw it. I wasn't entirely sure about it at first. I liked the dramatic scene but I had the same concerns as everyone else - the tilt, the tight composition and the sign. But after seeing the new version, I am absolutely sure I like the first one better. Yeah, it's a little tilted and the composition is tight on the dome. But for me, that anonymous pedestrian and the sign really pull the image together. Without them it's sort of dead. That scene needs that focal point to pull you in and make you really look around. In the new images, I just don't get engaged like I do in the original.

The reason why the original feels better is because I was at a higher place and the helped separate the silhouette from the building.
