    Re: lookout

I'm not sure what your trying to say with this picture and I find it could do with an animal, bird, or person in the trees to give it a story.

    Welcome to PR, canadianicon25,

I've looked at this a couple of times, and I am guessing that you are an artistic sort of person. I see this as an artistic approach to this scene, which I can certainly appreciate. The mostly angled framing effect is good but with the trees at an angle as well makes for a dizzying feeling. I think the opening is interesting enough on its own that you don't need the shot at an angle. I would prefer to see the trees growing straight. And, as Roger said, a person or something would have been the icing on the cake.

Looking forward to seeing more from you!

    Re: lookout

I agree that something is missing from this. As a general rule I think a photo needs three interacting elements to work well. In this one you have two - the trees and the window. I think the silhouette of a a person looking through out through the hole or maybe a dimly lit person looking in would start to make it interesting. But as it is now, it's sort of flat and lifeless.

Maybe you can go back and shoot it again? Think about what it was you were feeling when you took the picture. Try to break down what you wanted to communicate and share with the viewer and try to figure out a way to make this location do that better.

On a side note, when I was little I lived in New Brunswick and this reminds me of the woods around my house in the winter

I agree with SheBang. If the trees were straight and maybe if another element was present this photo would be great. That being said I do like the fact that you tried something different.

To be honest if the texture of the trees came through a bit more, I think it would work well.

And according to a pro who sells photographs in art shows, about 1 out of 10 people can appreciate art. I certainly am not one of them :blush2: :cryin: :mad2:
