    Re: Different!

    Alex,

    This is indeed a..different picture. I find the object in the ash tray pretty interesting, and it has a nice texture, as well as there being nice tones throughout the picture. However, It's hard to describe, but I sort of get "confused" when I look at the picture. I'm not sure what your trying to portray, my eyes search for a possible anchor/focal point, but end the search without a possible answer.

    Hope this helps.

    Re: Different!

    I dont think its an ash tray =P
    It looks like a paper plate with a piece of cake or something on it to me, lol

    I love this photo... I clicked on your thread and I fell in love with it
    i love the warm tones and the darkness yet its sharp and soft at the same time... its hard to explain... but I really really like this shot, good eye =)

    All that is gold does not glitter,
    Not all those who wander are lost;
    The old that is strong does not wither,
    Deep roots are not reached by the frost.
    From the ashes a fire shall be woken,
    A light from the shadows shall spring;
    Renewed shall be blade that was broken,
    The crownless again shall be king.

    Alex - It has some really nice elements - the color, tonal ranges, and interesting DOF, and the black background. I like it. But I also wish there was something more to grab ahold of, meaning something that wasn't cut off and that could act as a subject. It works regardless.

    I also found my eyes roving in search of a focal point... but maybe that's what makes this photo so interesting. Perhaps a reshoot (if you haven't cleaned up the party yet ) with the nutrition facts on the coke can more in focus? This would at least give you a focal point.

    I think this is interesting, but agree that I'd like to see the words on the soda can in focus.
