Desert Flowers
The west coast has gotten a lot of rain this year, including out in the desert which has produced a nice bloom of flowers. Shot this out in Anza-Borrego a few weeks ago. I think it's decent but not great. Seems that it's difficult to capture the right subject with the right light to express the entire 360 degree feel of the Bloom. Suggestions? Also shoot with Kodachrome 64.

Re: Desert Flowers
GB1, interesting shot. I'd try cropping out the sky, and just having the rocks/flowers. I think it's more effective, as it draws your eyes to the flowers, and the sky seems out of place.
Great colors,

I fully agree with Jared idea to crop the sky. I must admit that I wouldn't have thought about this by myself but it just makes sense as I try it. However, I fear that the picture will never be quite right due to the harsh lighting. The scene calls for a softer/warmer light.

I don't know if the sky has to be cropped out, I kinda like the composition as it is now.
I do have to agree with Seb and say that the harsh lighting has washed out too much of the color. Some softer lighting would have really made those flowers pop.

I like the low angle you chose with more land and less sky.
Something not right with the color I think you should retouch it a bit with the contrast (PS)

Re: Desert Flowers
Good comments everyone.
Jared, Seb, PlantedTao - I'm not sure if it was so harsh of lighting that day (which is normally the case out in the desert). It was really a strange condition, but unfortunately, the light just wasn't ideal for Photography.
ARP, I think it was a slightly gloomy day and that affected the colors. These situations would be ideal for Fujichrome Velvia or Ektachome VS since they tend to inject extra color into a situation that isn't really there, whereas the KR just captured it the way it was (the slide looks the same as the scan).
As far as no sky, do you really think cropping it out would work? Without an infinity, it might lose its dimensionality. Maybe less would be Ok. It's just too bad that the sky was so blah that day..
