    Leaf and Water

I am curious and would like input about the amount of contrast in this image. I bumped it up considerably from the original. Again any thoughts or comments are welcome.

    Regards

Contrast wise, it looks fine on this monitor. What I wish it had was more sharpness - the leaf doesn't have the detail it should. Is the original crisp? Maybe try some sharpening techniques in photoshop. I think if the leaf were very sharp, it would really stand out from the softness of the flowing water.

Definately agreed. If the leaf was more in focus that would be an excellent image.

with so much contrast, i think things are fighting for attention. The water is beautiful but I think a little too contrasty.

I think that the added contrast to this picture probably helped it a lot as it usually makes the colors look bolder. I think that the leaf should be the center of focus and should also be the point of optimal focus in the image. It looks like you might have been focused on something else thus causing the leaf not to be as sharp looking as it could be.

I have to agree with IguanaMom and Hindey. The picture has great potential if only the leaf were sharper. I Like the contrast as is...

    Re: Leaf and Water

When I first looked at the image, i liked it. I felt the contrast was right and the leaf stood out well for me. As I read what others have felt about the sharpness of the leaf, I would agree that it could have helped to have been sharper, but it does not seem to bother me as much. I like this image. The composition and framing very good. Try some selective sharpening and see if you can bring out the appearance of a bit more detail in the leaf.
