The series works really well. I find a few nitpicks through the photo's, but they are personal things I would have done differently.

    Overall...

    Love them!

Great shots, works well as a series - it looks like it was a bit of a dismal place.
The first shot is the best one for me. Have you tried converting them to black and white, could be even more moody then I think

    All the best

    Nice series.

    1. Ick...in a good way.
    2. Tad too dark and when I look through the doorway there isn't anything to capture my eyes.
    3. I really like the color and the stencil on the wall above the tub really holds my attention. This is my favorite of the group.
    4. I am just scratching my head because I have never seen a room full of vacuums.

Great series, absolutely love the last one (sorry, but I can just envision a bunch of patients all in white aimlessly pushing vacuum cleaners around for hours without a care in the world)
except for one small flaw - the two sets of fresh wet footprints

Except for the lack of beds, the first shot reminds me of a provincial Russian hospital I visited that was still in service!

Thanks and I hear what you saying, but my B&W pics have never really impressed me, maybe my lame processing.....but I do prefer the colour ones on this series so many different colours going on in the place.

Nevertheless I did process a few in B&W.......what dya think??

Let me in there! What a subject and what a place and you have come up with very good shots too. We have one about 7 miles from us but i have not got past the dogs and security guards yet.

    I knew b/w would work!

Like the bath shot and the sink, it seems there is some kind of watermark on the photos,
Did not see that on the colour shots. Or is it my old eyes!

Old buildings (when they are not falling about your ears) are great for this kind of work.

I think its a great series also.
My one pick at the color is that I think they are over saturated.
The b/w are more striking due to the nature of the subject.

As an aside, I worked most of my life at what was once an institution and now a school.
All the old living residences had those huge tubs. I'd sure love to have one of those to soak in.

Do you really think there over saturated?? Thats a setting I did not touch in PP, just as it a came out the camera, pushed the clarity up a bit but nothing else on the colour front

Looks like a real *hit hole. I wonder if it was always like that or was just tore up by the internees? I guess there's not a lot of money to invest in services like this, in Britain or in the USA (or anywhere).

I vote for the color. I find those shots excellent and really tell a story. Bravo! I enjoy looking here. What camera did you use may I ask, and what lenses? I'm impressed with the color and sharpness.

If you're looking for feedback on your photographic technique then the Critique forum is where to post. If you would prefer to just post cool shots for people to view and don't think they warrant specific feedback, the Viewfinder is the place.

    Welcome to the forums btw,

I haven't commented here in ages, but I really like this series of shots. I especially like the blue room and the bath tubs. I don't think the colors are over saturated, but my preference is for strong colors. Great mood in these shots.

Love the blue walled shot and the first one. Very nice. Too bad #2 didn't have anything like that stencil or some object visible. Otherwise very nice.

    Hello,
These shots are great and really grab a hold of you. I find myself wondering how it was for the patients in there back in the day. Great post and I like the color just as much as the black and white...maybe even a little more...

The chair in the first pic says it all -- what a crappy place to be in -- in every sense of the word.

You did a fantastic job of photographing a sad place.

Also the picture of the vaccums is priceless, demonstrates of the idea of a time long gone.
