    New Years Day Sunset

Sometimes I look at my photos, and they look more like paintings than a photograph. Not always my desired look.

What do you think of the effect, composition, and overall feel?

    As always...Thank you,
    Loren

Overall, I like it. Very sharp and I like the wide angle.
On the downside I find myself wanting to see a bit more of whats to the left. Like the top edge of that wave and a bit more of the land in the background. I wouldn't mind if it was a tad darker as well. Lowering the angle slightly would also enhance it a bit in my opinion. This would result in a bit less sky but more wave action.
I feel there is absolutely nothing wrong with a photograph having a painterly feel. Makes it even more pleasing to look at.

That's a good problem to have. Fill me in on what you do to cause yourself so much stress.

    Loren,

I love this shot! The wide-low angle and the fact that it looks like the whole frame is in motion is great. For me it seems as though the clouds are just racing across the sky, in synch with the waves rolling in.

    Nice work!

    Thanks for the comments!!

I really appreciate the comments, and feelings of the photo. I've really been struggling with my landscape photography lately, and been in a slump. One of my goals is to continue to build new images for my landscape and commercial portfolio. Unfortunately it hasn't been doing well.

When I took this image, I thought it was a dud but just went through the motions to make the best use of my time. I'm glad that I did and happy for the comments.

    Thanks again,
    Loren

I know where you're coming from. I had the same problem last year. If it's any consolation I checked your website and I think you've got some very fine work there.
    Keep shootin!
