Dancing in the Moonlight

Fast moving clouds blowing over the full moon. Kodak UC 400 300mm

What shutter speed were you using, as well as a tripod? it's just the moon itself looks blurry, even through the clouds there should be some definition. It's a nice start though

After a second closer look, and cleaning my glasses, i stand corrected! The moon does have some definition to it.

Yes tripod.( and mirror lock-up) Shutter speed was about 3-5 seconds on this. The clouds were moving over the moon during this time so there were clouds covering all of the moon for a fraction of a sec during this exposure.Actually, the whole image is soft due to the movement in the sky. thanks for the thoughts

at first glance it looks like a painting, the movement is great. There is beautiful colour in it aswell.

This doesn't quite connect for me. I think I want a bit less movement or more. Hard to look at. It does have a spooky,edgy feel. I might like the print better than on the monitor.

A beautifully rendered and haunting image, Gary. The motion of the clouds are well depicted and the softness of the shot is very appropriate here. Nice!

Anew, Chunk, and Mahesh. Thanks for your feedback. I too feel it is has a haunting feel to it, but the image appears to me like a figure dancing. I like it, but like Chunk, somehow it does not feel like all it could be. I think cropping it tighter gives it the added dynamic needed . It looks stronger to me with this tighter crop. Do you feel it is stronger with the crop?

Yes, that's an improvement. That relatively small crop causes the the light to become the subject for me rather than the dark clouds. The slightly more prominent moon also helps.

I agree. Nice improvement on an already intriguing capture.

The crop helps this alot Gary. It limits some of the motion and adds greatly to it. Nice concept!
