    Cranes, roads, and tracks

Trying to capture a piece of downton Vancouver. Skytrain tracks on the right, highway on the left, and cranes in the background. Again, human element was a great addition for me and I enojy the kind of "lonliness" feel to the shot.

    Agree? Disagree?

    Re: Cranes, roads, and tracks

    Hi Jared,
I like the curves of the railroad and the railing. The visual impact of the curves especially the one on the right is pretty strong. The alignment of the person, the pole and the car gives me a bizzare feeling, it is creepy to me. I wish the contrast of the shot is a bit higher. Thanks for sharing.

I like the curved railing and road/tracks beneath. This is a pretty good point of view. i like that you placed the railing starting from the lower corner and bringing our eye out into the scene. The person in the scene is a plus, but I would like it if she were not lined up with the vertical pole. I think cropping from the left just enough to eliminate the truck creeping in would make a stronger image . Also, I feel this might look best in B&W with higher contrast.

Yoyo, thanks for the comments! I never even noticed the alignment of the pole/person until you pointed it out. Thanks again, and I'll try that contrast thing in a bit.

    Gary,

Thanks for the words. I see what you mean about the crop, and as I said just above, I totally didn't even notice the pole being aligned with the person!

    Thanks alot,

    Jared

    Jared -
Although I think a B&W image would be more to my liking, I think it would make the pole/person alignment much more apparent.

This has very pleasing curves and point of view. This looks like a great place to take some cityscape photos. I would try a re-shoot, if you like the composition and subject, which to me are very strong.
The next time I would try to get the individual against a less distracting background, possibly coming towards you for more human interaction...and getting all these things to happen when you want is what has me hooked on streetphotography.

    Good luck.

    Tao,

I tried the black and white...unless the B+W was subtle, and rather bland, the person element was very accented as you said...I can't believe I shot the picture with the person right in front of the pole! The city was great to shoot, I wish i had more time in it. Thanks for the comments Tao!
