    A Couple Landscapes

It seems like all my photography lately (what little there has been) has been family related, but I visited a boy scout camp this last weekend with one of my sons and took my camera. I kind of liked how these turned out, but thought I'd post to get some feedback.

I welcome your input and comments!

    Thanks,

    PC

Wow is that some clear water or what? In the first one I think the reflection and the bottom of the creek causes to much of a distraction together, if that makes since, but the second image works well. The glassy clear reflection and calm mood. Looks like summer camp. Two thumbs up.

Thanks Greg. I appreciate the feedback. I was a little concerned that the first was a little busy, but there's a part of me that likes the mix of reflections and rocks in the water. I also wasn't able to capture the mist that was on the water although you can see a little further up the stream.

    Thanks,

I like them both but can see the problem with the business in the creek.
I think you've caught that 'morning in the wilderness' feel.
    Good composition in both.

They are both done with such professionalism that I have little to add. I am envious of both and think they are beyond my current skill level.

Thanks Frog - I'm glad I caught the wilderness morning feel. It was indeed wilderness, morning, and cold.

Daq - that's very nice of you to say, but that's pretty much nonsense, no offense intended. I've seen most everyone here post stuff that's as good or better - including you. Hopefully we're all trying to improve which is what brings us back here for feedback.

    Thanks,

Yeah man, dont get me wrong. I have my skills, but the simplicity of these goes beyond me. I don't really know how to capture that simple crispness with the awesome dynamic range. I am always painting with light to even try it. I admire it..

Nice work. I'm very impressed by the clarity here. I'd be interested in your PP technique. These are clean, and very sharp. I seem to lose this in my shots somewhere.

    Re: A Couple Landscapes

    Great photos!

Question on #2... The canoes look a little soft or painted. Good lines, but the detail doesn't seem to match normal DOF blur.. Almost like some noise reduction softening.. Then again, could just be my eyes, but thought I'd ask..

Composition is almost perfect for me on that one too... The only thing that I think takes away is the wood cross bar that the canoes are tied to.... The lines of the canoe lead you into the scene perfectly on their own, but the horizontal line caused by the wood stops my eyes for a bit, and makes me look at the canoes too long, which is why I noticed how they seemed abnormally soft/smooth compared to the rest of the scene. It also makes me notice the little corner softening caused by the lens that I'm sure I wouldn't have noticed otherwise...

Having said that, it's still an amazing photo and definitely wall worthy...

#1 is great as well. I know what others are saying about the extreme clear detail in the lower right of the photo being a little distracting, but I got over it quickly as my eyes wondered back through the rest of the scene. Love the sun coming through the trees and the ray of light illuminating the river... Solid work...
