Coronary Trilogy

Hi all

Following my heart attack, exactly three weeks ago, I am in a period of enforced rest so I'm restricted to still life photography.

I did these images today. I appreciate they probably mean a lot more to me than to anyone else - but even so, I offer them for anyone who finds them of interest. I call them the 'Coronary Trilogy' and they are meant to be viewed in order.

As always, any comments are very welcome.

I see the story line here, the use of the apple as a metaphor and the directional waves of the lines is excellent as well. I like the shots a lot, the textures and patterns are very artistic. I miss the colour in the last shot and I hope the apple stands up quickly.

One other thing: I thought the pencil was an appropriate metaphor for stress, possibly work related.

Another way of doing it would be as a triptych.

Excellent. This is great and should be on a wall.

The triptych is better as the separate photos are not showing up in the same order (for me). I like it and hope you are doing well. - TF

They are showing in order for me so don't know what the answer to that one is.

Mike, I am glad that your recent health problem has not affected the excellence of your work.

Each of these photos and post processing is excellent and I too like the triptych best.

Each one is amazing on its own, but the triptych is almost overwhelmingly impactful. The sum total is even greater than its parts. Wonderful, wonderful stuff.

I just don't think there is the need to say anything else... this describes the triptych perfectly... I love the colors, and the lines and the apple...

Normally things like this don't appeal to me but I kinda like this with the swirls and the colors! Jeff

Many thanks guys. I am pleased that the images struck a chord, even for those who have never had heart problems.

The triptych prints up well. I may even try it out in a club competition - the judge at our next print competion is well known for appreciating 'digital art'.

Excellent Mike.
You are very good at this. A little thing I am unhappy about is the straight horizontal line close to the bottom especially in the first two. It just catches my eye each time.
Some of the most attractive colouring I have ever seen in any image.

Here is (I hope!) a final version. The white line is removed (it was the lip of the ledge where the apple was sitting) and squared up a little.

Yep! Indeed.

When one can use his/her photography to communicate part or all of the internal cauldron caused by the external environment and life's affect on it, then you have become more than a picture taker and have become an artist.

Wow. That's all I can say. Wow.

Agree with frog to the letter. They're beautiful to look at, but a good deal of their emotional punch derives from the narrative itself.

First, sorry to hear of your heart attack but so glad to know that you are on the mend. You did not lose any of your brilliant eye or creativity. I would not know where to begin to create such work and admire the skill you have. Thanks for sharing and best of luck over the next few months.

Once again, many thanks. I am hopeful, given decent weather, to be able to get out this coming weekend for a bit of street photography.

This is stunning, Mike. I'm sorry i had missed it as well as not having known sooner about your recent health concerns. I hope you have the quick and sure recovery that we would all hope for. It certainly has not stopped you from putting out an amazing visual piece for all to enjoy. I agree that this is greater than the sum of its parts. Goes together so well, and i really like the idea of losing much of the colors on the last one.

Thanks Gary. I may try it out at a club competition - the next round of our club print league is being judged by a lady who is sympathetic to the "digital art" approach. I only really did it as a personal statement of how I felt about what happened - it is very gratifying to discover that others appreciate it too.

In the meantime I am back at work this week, albeit only part time for the rest of the the month.
