    Joshua Tree

Recent trip to Joshua Tree. Had by far the best weather for this trip.

    Thoughts?

I'm not sure whether I would have framed it more to the left, or right, whichever has more substance, but I definitely would have offset the boulder some more. Pretty harsh lighting, but it works...the color and gradient of the sky is beautiful. I see a couple of dust spots, but thats an easy fix. The focus is sharp, nice job...what an awesome place!

I like the weathered look of this outcrop boulder and the soft color. Did you take this mid day? The only thing that I would suggest is crop out as much of the road in left of the frame as you can.
Like the sky and overall composition.

Thanks. I was struggling with the cropping. I didn't know if I should or shouldn't. I tried taking the road out but was just unsure of the overall look after it.

@nkp68 - It was taken in the morning at about 9-10 am.

Gotta get rid of the circle artifact in the lower left sky. Great colors. Light is a bit harsh.

DGK what version of edition software do you use?? PS cs5 has an awesome content aware feature that could take that road out for you.

    Re: Joshua Tree

@tayl0124 - I don't have either one. These were straight out of my camera. I shot in Jpeg for the first time. I will usually shoot in RAW then mess with it a bit in Lightroom but it took so much longer to get pictures up. I just decided to use Jpeg Fine this time. That way I can put them up faster for my friends to see them after our trip.

    Re: Joshua Tree

I know what you mean. I will sometimes also just shoot in jpeg if I know that they are going to be more snapshots that I am sharing with friends anyways. I am not sure about in lightroom, but I am able to open jpegs in camera raw and tweak them a bit in there, although I would rather not most of the time. My canon rebel xs will allow me to shoot both raw and jpeg at the same time. I do that also every once and a while. Although eats up memory like crazy.
