    Mtn bike shot

Schools been keeping me pretty busy but got out to shoot a bit of riding. Finally riding again too after close to a year off. Thought this one was a goner till I played with it a bit. What do you think?

I really like the mood, but it needs a lot more saturation to bring in the missing color. Maybe just a touch warmer on the white balance would help the skin tones from looking so washed out. The face in particular looks very ghost-like.

Overall I really like the scene. It's unique and really give the feel of being in a dark forest. But the spooky feel it has doesn't quite fit; more color and warmth should help eliminate that.

I too like the mood but I have no problems with the color (but I do see that the white balance seems unusual).

I wish the ferns in the foreground were in focus. They are a nice framing touch but a bit too close to the flash and the only part of the image that isn't sharp.
    No, I DON'T need that.

I saw this photo in the gallery and made my comments there.

Just in case you didn't know, you can edit your photos in the gallery. So you could upload a larger version there if you wanted. You can also associate the camera information, change the category, title, etc. I go to the gallery and edit all my photos after I post in the forums.

    Re: Mtn bike shot

Thanks guys. It was getting dark and all I had to work with was on camera flash. I went back and adjusted the white balance a little bit and saturated some colors and desaturated the fern so maybe it wouldnt stand out as much.

Thanks for the comments John. Was hoping you might jump in on this one since Ive seen some I found this site from your mtb shots. Didnt realize until a few weeks just how many mtn bike shots do use radio slaves. Next camera related purchase will definitely be flash related sine Im going to be trying to shoot alot in darker woods. I have one other angle. It sounds like this might have been where you would have directed a flash from with the other angle? Hope that made sense. I almost forgot it loaded one to the gallery too. Will upload a larger version or two. I need to figure out a better system for resizing and uploading...

Looks a tad surreal with the flash, but still good that you used one. I like how you left some space before him to let the bike enter the area. Too bad there's not something else happening in the sky - full moon, shooting stars, etc. That would really be surreal!
