Trying my hand at some close up photgraphy and pulled a few sticks from my humi. Comments welcome.

The second one feels a bit jumbled to me. My eye tends to go and fix on the out of focus AV label. But the first is excellent. I've been playing with similar linear dof progression with different things lately, and failing miserably.

Much prefer the first to the second, but I think if you simply removed the two foreground stogies, the second could work equally well.

Hex - As an expt it does it's job. But you need to be more strategic about where you actually place the area of focus. There should be a reason for the area, like a piece of text or something. With the top image, it's actually between two cigs, and the bottom's composition is just a mess... Oh well, something to work on.
