New to the Forum - 3 pics posted

Hello, New member here. Thought I'd post a few recent images.
The first pic is a building I found while wandering through UofT. The second is looking out my front window about three nights ago. The final image is from a trip recently taken to the southern caribbean.

    Hey Graphista,
    Nice shots.
The sun shot is cool. Kinda blown out in the hightlights. Stop down a bit and you'll get less of that. Nice comp though.
Snow shot - I've got the same scene outside my door. Coincidence? Very moody, desolate feel.
U of T. Nice buildings. Lots of potential for close ups as well, I'm sure. The left side is a little distracting with the branches and scaffolding(?) Maybe try zooming tighter but still including part of the foreground building.

    Howdy there!

I want to see more of that building or the finer details. It seems unfinished with the foundation missing (Is it just me?) Is this a color shot? It almost looks like it...then again it almost doesn't. I can see hints of blue in the sky and hints of pink on the stone...is my monitor fibbing again? Boy can I see lots of opportunities here...

I'm not sure I'm seeing what you were seeing in your second shot. It's a little dark. Were you trying to capture the moon? Maybe a tripod? I don't know, just doesn't work for me.

I like your third shot. I would only suggest maybe playing with curves (oh please PS gurus send more advice in this area) to tone down the sun and maybe make your clouds and sky a little more dramatic. But I like your nice even horizon...and the overall shot.

Thanks for the opportunity to comment!

    Thanks for the coments,

I agree with cropping out the scaffolding and branches. As for the colour - I was playing arond with the saturation - it's not your monitor BamaFru.

In the winter scene, I didn't set anything up, just grabbed the closest camera and shot before the plows came through. Although it was almost as desolate as it looks - until that noisy plow.

I took the photo of the sun with my very cheap finepix digital camera, I was surprised that it came out as well as it did! I do know what you mean about the sun, wish I could change that now but there's absolutely no detail in the digital pic... I can play with the curves though, I think there may be more control by using the levels palette.

By no means am I an experienced photographer - but as a graphic designer, I enjoy taking shots and using them in my work, or just messing around with them.

I like the 2nd shot, it gives me a cold feeling inside.

The sun shot is interesting too.
