I like this shot, my problem is that your crop has to much black. You need to crop it a bit closer to the subject. This would be a great subject for an HDR.

Re: The circus is in town...

    I really like this shot!
IF (big if) I were to crop this one it would be just a tiny bit from the top and the left sides...but i ADORE the lighting on the grass and the moon(?) in the sky. The focus is amazing. The image makes me feel like I came upon it in the middle of a field. What an interesting photo. THANKS FOR SHARING!

    I really love this shot!

Unlike the others, I don't mind the black, and I think it really sets the mood and placement. The subject just appears out of no where, out of the darkness - The epitome of a traveling big top.

    I think it's captured beautifully.
    Cheers,

Re: The circus is in town...

I bet this looks great enlarged, kinda hard at this scale to appreciate the details in the darkness of the lawn. A small crop from the right and below might not kill it and help accentuate the people , also taking the horizon out of the middle of the pic.
Please ask to edit photos and I'll do the same!
    Thx, Rod

I like the black and also the grass and long shadows but the bright lights bother me some. Nice work Brent. I have scanned through your flickr photostream a time or two.

TGreat Brent. Might look ok with a slight crop but I like the way the black fades and vignettes the brightly lit scene that seems to be in the middle of nowhere. Has a twilight zone look about it, in color.
nice work, good to see you poppin in again.

Re: The circus is in town...

thanks for the comments everyone. I was trying to post it a bit bigger, but unfortunately it was either this size or much too big from flickr. in my mind it kind of seems like something you would see in a children's book. My favorite part of the image is the little boy on the right. I can't remember the title of the book but it's like that one where the blimp arrives and takes the kid up into the sky where he hangs out with all the fairy tale characters.

I really like black, so i think it works well with it, but can see where everyone else is coming from. Thanks for the opinions!

    Brent,

Nice work, I have no issues with this photo at all other than it needs to be viewed big on a wall. In fact I love the twilight zone take as Gary mentioned. It reminds me of a film about a circus where nasty things happen but cannot for the life of me remember the name of it.
