Chunk, here's one for you.
As I mentioned to you, I don't have anything new. But here's one from the same area as my mill shot. It loses a lot in the downsize.

What an impressive house and a good shot of it too. I need to get back into New England. I enjoyed it while stationed in Connecticut 30+ years ago but wasn't into photography much at the time. I'd love to walk around Mystic Seaport or Old Sturbridge Village again with a camera in my hands. I loved all the old houses and crooked little streets in almost any town.
Re: Chunk, here's one for you.
Thanks Chunk... This house, a restored 17th century house reminds me of a larger version of the House of Seven Gables in Salem.
I love Mystic and Sturbridge Village too!
I spent many summers in Marblehead MA. This fall, I tried to shoot some photos of the old town , but I couldn't find a parking space to stop! I plan to try again in the spring. There are lots of narrow windy streets there. The old part of Salem has some fun spots to shoot as well.
Re: Chunk, here's one for you.
That is one wild looking house, I don’t think I have ever seen anything quite like it. I wish the chimney had a bit more detail in it. I also would like to see a little more detail in the shadows but that is asking a lot..
Nice shot,
Greg
Re: Chunk, here's one for you.
Thank you Greg.
The chimney was rebuilt and plastered with a white surface. The original was red brick. Too bad they didn't restore it to it's original look. Also it looks like they need to restore a bit more of the right corner gable.

I had a difficult time getting the brightness of the chimney down but not totally darken the shadowy areas. The sun was just too strong. I'm trying to recall the time of day. It looks pretty close to noon. The wrong time to take a photo, I know. :)
There are tons of historic buildings in and around the Boston area. Hopefully, I'll get to take shots of more.
Re: Chunk, here's one for you.
Lara, everything about this photo is luscious, especially color! When I looked at it, I immediately loved it but it seemed to be a bit slanted to the left. I wasn't sure, so took it into ps and tested it by right edge of the house. It seemed to need a tiny bit of rotating, even as little as 1 degree helped a bunch. It's a lovely shot and such an unusual house.

I'm glad you enjoyed the shot bobby. The area is really lovely. I had posted a photo of the mill that's down further behind the house. I wish I was able to go to the bottom of the hill to take more photos. Maybe next spring I'll make an effort. This place is pretty cool.
Oh, and thanks Kit. Glad you pointed out the tilt!
Re: Chunk, here's one for you.
Very good pic of a fascinating old building... I love old architecture. Somewhere around here, I've got a couple of pics I took of Iolani Palace in Hawaii. Need to dig them out.
Re: Chunk, here's one for you.
Thanks Chris! I look forward to seeing your palace photos.
Re: Chunk, here's one for you.
Thought it was The House of Seven Gables at first - been there a couple of times when I was growing up and my cousins lived in Marblehead near Deveraux (sp?) beach...
Thanks for sharing!
Re: Chunk, here's one for you.
The two building do have a lot of similarities. Built around the same time too I think. Somewhere in the 1600's.
Devereaux Beach, yeah!! I spent a lot of summer days there. :) I love Marblehead.
