    Chincoteague Sunset

This shot has some obvious processing but I like the way it came out. What do you think?

Stunning! I love the crispness of the sea oats against the softness of the beautiful sunset.

I agree with the above poster about the effectiveness of the foreground plants - very nice. There are dark areas around the plants against the lighter places in the background - post processing? - Terry

I think a little light in the shadows of the plants would improve it. I don't care for deep silouhettes.

    Re: Chincoteague Sunset

Thanks for all your comments. The post processing is responsible for both the darkness of the plants in general as well as the "halo" around the plants. I will try toning it down and little and post the results.

I was trying to add something a bit more dramatic to the shot than just some plants and a dock, but I may have taken it too far.

This is the original shot with just a bit of adjustment to the exposure and contrast:

    Chincoteague Sunset Straight

This is a version that used the same kind of effect as the first one I posted but just toned down a little. I started from scratch so the crop is not exactly the same.

Edit: I think the last one was too hastily done. I really need to revisit

I think I still like the first one I posted, but there may still be a happy medium between the first and the last.

    Re: Chincoteague Sunset

The first one is definitely dramatic, unfortunately I am immediately drawn to the halos around the plants and the overall dreamy softness. I like the drama of the sky in the first one and the realism of the unprocessed version. Maybe increase the saturation in the yellows and oranges a bit.

love the colour of the 1st image and the crispness of the 2nd. I agree with Don who made the remark about not caring for the silhoutteing. and seeing your original, those greens are nice addition to the photo

I still lie everything about the first one except the halos - including that I didn't notice the dock. - Terry

I find it fantastic with the exception of the halos around the grass/oats.

Your original treatment is the best, but I do agree a bit more light in the dark parts.

    Re: Chincoteague Sunset

This is my last attempt. Despite it's flaws the first one is best. I just can't get that same color. I need to get better at editing photos.
