China - last group for now
Hi all .. the third and last group of China pictures -

The first is another view of the Great Wall.

The second is at the entrance to the Forbidden City in Beijing. The Forbidden City is quite hard to photograph - the scale is enormous, and there are always lots of people there - I wanted to catch something of the scale of it.

The third is another park scene - the same park as the dance one in my first China post.

As always, any comments are appreciated.

    Cheers
    Mike

I like all of these. the great wall shot is full of essence with the hazy background and the nicley lt fg. the wall winding it's way around the landscape is wonderful.
The second shot is a vey unusual composition, but i think it is effective. Having just the heads of the people decending on the Forbiden City with the view from within ( My favorite) is a strong scene.
the third is also very good and we get a sense of the typical life of the common people. Love that bg

Mike, great images. I have not had a chance to sort through all of them, but "Swan Lake" and Shanghai museum" (the one where the girl is on the stairs) excellent shots.

Fantastic selection on the web page. Very strong colours which suit all the subjects.
My favourite is the second one above and it looks so much better when given the space of it's own page.
Interesting; I have a shot almost similar to the one of the girl on the stairs in the Shanghai Museum although mine was in landscape and of course a different girl! Posted here a number of years (gosh it can't be years) back.

That first photo is great. What really stood out to me is the snow...Somehow I could have pictured that..That third photo is also really cool. Reminds me of MacArthur park in L.A. where people pass the day doing nothing but playing cards...
Thanks for bringing a part of China to us.

Looks like you had a great trip Mike! You have some excellent shots in your gallery. Always wanted to see the Forbidden City and Great Wall. Hopefully I can make it there someday :)

if you want to take photos for the Forbidden City, you should come very early in the morning,so there are not many people.

I like the first best. The sky would usually be a dissapointment in many photos but I think it gives a feel of distance and space in this one.
At first I didn't like the second one because the people had no feet but now I think that adds to the sense of size.
The third one feels cramped to me.

Mike - The first one's the best. The angle you shot it at really shows perspective.
