    Child Portrait
I shot this in the studio about a week ago as one of my assignments for one of my classes. I really like this shot of her but I got approached a day after I posted this in my portraits section on Facebook that this was not a child's pose. I feel differently about that because I felt that since she was older, I could get away with this.

What do you guys think? Give me your critiques on the shot and on the posing. :) Thanks.

Just to let you know, I'm thinking about it and will get back to it.
    Interesting

I think the crop is odd. I can understand leaving the room on the side of her to avoid cutting off her elbow, but the other end of the chair really unbalances it for me, along with the negative space next to the subject. It also seems to be blown out behind the right arm, which also pulls my eye away from her. Well done on the exposure of the girl though.

The reason it's cropped like that is because their is a studio light off to my right behind the couch to light the background, and if I would have shot the full couch, it would have been in it. So I decided for the method instead. But I went for a high key background in this shot. That's the reason the background is blown like it is.

But thank you for the critiques. :)

I think the studio light would have made a great touch

The pose stikes me as more of an adult type pose rather than a typical child's pose.

I'm picturing the light at upper right with entire couch in frame.
It would tell a story. Just my own imagination I guess.

Okay yeah, I understand what you're talking about now. It would tell a story, but for the sake of the assignment, I couldn't use the light in the shot. :/ But I see what you're seeing now.
