It IS The Camera....

....That makes the Picture.
Nikon D70 on the third day or so that I had it, I had been snapping pictures of my brother in law, sister, mother, and my girlfriend all day, and I saw a nice view of my brother in law in the pool. I had the camera on the neckstrap and I just took off the lenscap, put it on auto and pressed the button.
One of the nicer-looking pictures I have taken so far.
It is quite impressive as an 8x10 print and at the full resolution. I only bumped the brightness a bit up in Capture.

WOW ! That is quit a impressive mouthfull of detail of camera settings you gave there !
But i have to disagree with your statement ( It is the camera that makes the picture ) How many times i have heard that same old story ! The thruth , is the technique , knowledge , experience etc. One can have the most expensive camera and still take lousy shots ( not refering to your photo ), but with a little bit of knowledge one can take excellent photo's even with a very cheap camera .
And this website is a excellent place to learn from others to obtain that knowledge .

Back to your photo ,

The photo look nice , but i think you could work a little on the composition .
Your brother in law is a bit too much centered .
The photo look too busy in a sense that there are too much other things that distract you from your main focus point .
I do think this photo have a lot of potential .

But please, this is only my opinion, take some more and post them ! I would love to see more of your photo's .And to see that D70 at it's full potensial !

I find the photo too busy. A crop with your brother-in-law in the bottom right would work well with this photo. Have a play with the croping tool.

Had a go at cropping, hope you dont mind, is this any better.

The cropping has definitely helped. The pot of flowers was competing for attention with the main subject. The background looks much cleaner now too.
Decide what your main subject will be and crop out all other extraneous objects which may distract from the main subject.
Placing the subject in the bottom right has created an anchor and the diagonals add some motion.
It was all there in the original, just a matter of cutting through the underbrush, so-to-speak.

Yo hairy ahaha, i dont know man, i cant let you slide with all that info, i actually think for u, its the camera that takes the pictures because the d70 is ur god/idol and like you said it actually uses you ahahah ok man, see you at school tomm
