    Frozen Lake

These Images are taken from the backyard of on of my neighbors, I live across the street from the lake, and when driving home one day I saw the second picture of the weird ice formation so I stopped and asked the neighbor if I could get some shots of it, while I was down there I found this pier which is the better picture in my opinion but my wife loves the ice so I'm posting it also. It was a fun shoot, on a very very cold day I think the wind chill was -15, and the wind was coming fast off the lake.

When I left for an errand there were Canadian geese out on the lake but by the time I had gotten back they had gone away, I'll try and get some photos of them out on the lake when I see them out there again.

Those ice threads are indeed interesting but you were too far away and they are too small a part of your image.

I find myself wanting more tonal range in both of these images, perhaps if you fooled around in B&W........although I am pretty sure that is just the way it was on a nasty winter day.
    No, I DON'T need that.

I agree with the Ice things, I didn't have the range on my lens to reach out and grab them just something that is very interesting to see, and as you can see it was just a crappy day in Indiana with the Clouds out in full force, I might try and get some more shots out tonight, and thank you for your critique.

I like the first over the second. MB makes a good point about tonality. What bugs me, though, is the background. The grassy areas just don't do it for me when you're talking -15 (BRRRRR!!! indeed). I'd have liked to have had snow back there to complete the frosty image.

Other than what has been said, I think most of the foreground in both pics could be cropped out.
