Blot On The Landscape: Is it or is it not?
    What do you think?
Just going back to Tuna's previous post where the chat about monitor calibration was addressed. It's always very difficult to get it right as no two set ups will ever be the same when you take into account surrounding light, position of monitor etc. Hence I would be curious to know how this image liiks on your monitors.
    Thanks to you all.

    Tom,
The composition is interesting but I don't think I like the posts cutting up into the landscape in the bg. Standing higher up and putting the top of the posts in the water I think would have made a better shot. Not sure what you mean about the blot on the landscape, but i am noticing in the water above the shorter posts there is alot of unatural blur going on, as if you rubbed the area out with a blur brush or something to the effect. I'm also feeling that the image has a bit of a cast to it. . .maybe too much yellow, but not sure on that as far as which color.

    Tom,
The concept is an interesting one, but I'm not sure I like the screen being divided almost precisely in half by the poles. I agree with Gary about the unnatural blur above the short posts. Also, the tall posts appear to be over-sharpened. Keep at it!

    Hello Tom,

I clearly see a yellow cast on my uncalibrated Apple lcd display as well. I wouldn't say that this is totally overwhelming but it is rather unnatural.

    regards

Yeah, too much yellow. Too much jpeg junk. And that blur. If you look across the entire frame, you see the blur going behind the posts all the way from left to right. It looks like some sort of DOF change, but the BG hills look sharper than the water. It's a strange band of blurring- what camera/lens used here?

The quality of this picture is not at all great and I was really looking forward to your comments on it, especially the concept. It was taken on a very cheap 1mp digital camera (my first digi) which was totally Auto gave very inconsistant results.
This is another one I took with this camera, the concept being similar.

This last post is a better composition.
